We are super excited that our next studio album will be released via the US label COP International. You can read more about the signing in the press release below. Check out the latest label compilation of COP International, that was released via Bandcamp today – with The Halo Trees! And the best, it’s for free!
The renowned US indie label COP International (Stabbing Westward, The Cassandra Complex, Beasto Blanco etc.) recently signed the Berlin band The Halo Trees. The group around singer/guitarist Sascha Blach describes their music as Deep Dark Indie Rock, which includes elements of Post-Punk, Indie Rock and Post-Rock. The dark Rock sound is characterized by complex arrangements in which the violin also has a fixed place, as well as the frontman’s deep melancholic vocals. In the past, The Halo Trees have been repeatedly compared to bands like The National, Lambchop and Mark Lanegan. After the outfit recently released a few singles on their own such as “Mr. Abundance” or “The Beginning Of Something Beautiful”, the next record “Where The Deep Ends” will be released in spring 2024 worldwide via COP International. The band promises an introspective headphone album with a warm, organic sound that contains lots of little details. The record release will be preceded by the first single and music video still this year.
Christian Petke, label boss of COP International, says about the signing: „I am genuinely thrilled to join forces with The Halo Trees. Their music exudes an introverted, deep, and intensely quiet post-punk vibe that resonated with me on a profound level. Sascha Blach, a truly prolific songwriter, has crafted something extraordinary, and I’m eagerly anticipating the moment we can unveil their incredible new music to the world.”
Sascha Blach from The Halo Trees is pleased: “I know COP International still from the first incarnation of the label and have therefore been following Christian’s work from afar for a long time. I think it’s great that he has revitalized the label and is now expanding musically. In our conversations he proved to be a great idealist and a very likeable person. I see it as a good sign that our first Zoom call lasted over 2.5 hours. So I’m looking forward to what I hope will be a long-term collaboration and I hope we as a band can take the next step.”

Mark your calendars! On October 27, 2023 we will play a streaming concert in the Ape45 Production Showroom Berlin-Mitte, which will be broadcast live on the Internet via Twitch. It starts at 7:30 p.m. Some of our new singles will also have their live premiere then…
Even if it seemed quiet around The Halo Trees, we have worked permanently on new tracks in the last 2 years after the release of the last album „Summergloom“. Three handful of songs, which we would like to present to you this year. Before our 3rd studio album will be released in autumn/winter, we will release some digital singles, which will not be on the album. 5 songs in 5 months. This means you will get to know unusual sides of The Halo Trees, before we then return to our familiar Dark Indie Rock sound on the upcoming album. We start with the single „Big Bang Coming“ – a simple, catchy and for The Halo Trees unusual heavy rock song, which Sascha deliberately wrote within only one hour to challenge himself. You can stream and download the song now on all major platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon or Bandcamp (also in 24 Bit). We look forward to your feedback.

We will release a new EP on July 1, 2022 as a follow-up to our 2021 album „Summergloom“, which is already clearly recognizable as a twin release by its title „Reverberations Of A Gloomy Summer“. The 5 songs of the EP were all created in the course of the „Summergloom“ sessions, but didn’t find a place on the album for various reasons – be it because they were stylistically a bit out of the ordinary or because they weren’t finished in time. So „Reverberations Of A Gloomy Summer“ sounds a bit more experimental, versatile and stylistically freer than the last album.
With the Portishead cover „Sour Times“ and the two original compositions „Nothing More To Worry About“ and „Song Of Compassion“, there are also three bonus tracks on the CD version, which were previously only available as digital releases. All three tracks had already been released as digital singles in the run-up to the album „Summergloom“ to bridge the waiting time for the record. For the CD version, which thus contains 8 tracks, the mix and mastering were also reworked once again. The CD is exclusively available in the Winter Solitude Shop as well as soon in our Bandcamp-Shop!
The CD release party will take place on 30.06.2022 at the Junction Bar Berlin. At this show we will also present our new line-up for the first time.
The Halo Trees are finally four musicians again. We welcome Nora Nünning on violin and Gabriel Wohlfahrt on bass as new members of the band.
On June 30th you can see them live for the first time, because we will play that night at Junction Bar in Berlin. See Facebook event
The Halo Trees singer Sascha has recorded a solo album, which will be released on July 1. Mansions In The Sea is the name of the project and it stands for quiet folk music. The first single including video was just released:
Ein aktuelles Interview mit Sascha lest ihr beimNightshade Magazin, wo es neben dem neuen Album „Summergloom“ auch um Themen wie Sprachverwirrungen, die Corona-Krise oder die Einordnung von The Halo Trees gegenüber Saschas anderen Bands aus Vergangenheit und Gegenwart geht.
Danke dafür an Otti, der das Interview geführt hat!
Like so many bands these days, we had to wait a bit longer for the vinyl delivery of their latest album. While the CD and digital release of „Summergloom“ was already in early October 2021, the vinyl release was delayed to February 4, 2022 due to raw material delivery problems. The vinyl version is now available in D/AT/CH via retailers and for the rest of the world it can be ordered from our Bandcamp store.
For the belated release, we also spend a new video clip. The light-footed indie rock track „Wanderlust“, which has already been described by numerous fans and media representatives as their personal highlight of the album, has been accompanied by a video shot on Ibiza, which shows Sascha on a partly surreal trip that lives up to the album title „Summergloom“. Enjoy!
The time has finally come. After we had to wait since last summer (the pressing plant couldn’t keep the delivery time), the „Summergloom“ LPs have arrived now. The pre-orders have been shipped in the meantime and you can order the vinyl edition of „Summergloom“ in our Winter Solitude shop and our Bandcamp store. From February 04, 2022 the vinyl version will be available in German-speaking countries also via retailers (from other countries it’s best to order via Bandcamp). By the way, on this date we will also release a video clip for the song „Wanderlust“.
We have again updated our Spotify playlist „Melancholic Indie Music„. Now 99 tracks, more than 7 hours playing time. Share and save the playlist, if you like it. New are tracks of these artists:
Madrugada – The Slow Show – Radiohead – Pink Turns Blue – Desperate Journalist – Sneaker Pimps – Deafheaven – Creux Lies – Lantlos – Traitrs – Grundeis – Thief – Emma Ruth Rundle – Charlie Cunnigham – Lana Del Rey – Cosma Nova – Bootblacks – Efterklang – The Brides Of The Black Room – GULVØSS – Tang Nova – Hanna & Kerttu
It’s finally out: our new album „Summergloom“. Available as cd, download and stream. Also exclusively only at Bandcamp and our own Winter Solitude shop as fanpackage with cd, shirt and lanyard.
Vinyl release is unfortunately delayed due to problems with the printing due to a shortage of raw materials. We hope for a vinyl release still in 2021 and keep you updated here.
